TD4 Engine Run On

My 2002 TD4 contiues to run on for a couple of seconds after the ignition has been turned off. Does anybody know what causes this?

Haynes say it could be due to a high engine operating temp, carbon build up in the engine or a faulty fuel injection system.

I'll see if its doing it when the engine is cold which should rule out one. I suppose diesel treatment should cure the other. Any thoughts on the fuel injection troubles?
