I know this issue is well posted on here, but I need a quick answer with out searching for hours.
Td4 2005 was running fine - then on Monday I was accelerating up a slip road from 30mph to 50mph.
The car suddenly lost power, so I stayed in the inside lane the car slowly made it too 50mph, the car lacked any kind of power and when I slowed down the EML came on and stayed on.
Today I replaced the wiring to the Fuel Rail Sensor - But my wiring was different from the instructions I found on here.
Car is still lacking power and EML still on, I pulled off the electrical connector to the Fuel rail Sensor and tried running the car - car is still the same.
So can I assume that it is the Sensor that is faulty - or is it not that simple.
Help please.

Don't presume anything is the best advice. Get the code read to actually diagnose the issue. Without the diagnostic code you are urinating into the wind.....
Best of luck :)

The fuel pump under the offside rear arch liner is often the cause of low power. This is easy to identify as you won't hear it running when the ignition is turned on.
Anything more, you'll need a diagnostic tool to read the live data or codes.

Thank you, think I have pinned it down to the wiring between the fuel rail and the ecu, wires were badly burnt ?.
I have fitted a replacement but have problems with wire colours not the same per instructions given.
I will attempt to repair old wiring today, just in case, you never know, I have also ordered a new type fuel rail sensor just in case it was damaged as well.
Heat source appears to be coming from the exhust/egr feed pipe,
Thanks

I hope to take a picture of my replacement harness tonight for reference.

Thank you, I have repaired old harness, strangely the wires are the same colours as the replacement harness,
Anyway car now running, eml now gone off, lots of smoke from exhaust - now cleared.
found a crack in the exhaust/egr valve pipe (which also melted a fuel pipe union - now replaced.)
I have tried the new harness with the new sensor - no joy, still runs rough eml on, so I must have the wiring in the ecu block wrong.
I have wired it up Green/Brown wire - Black block pin 17, Blue/Black wire - Grey block pin 9, White/ Yellow wire pin 10,
Any help is greatly appreciated, I would like to fit the new parts for peace of mind and to justify the cost.
Thank you
T

Ok found main problem - I have been working on the wrong plug, rewired in new harness to correct plug, eml gone out on tickover car starts fine, but eml comes on under load and lack of power.
So now I need to find out the correct wiring for the plug I rewired yesterday?

Car now working and seems fine, manged to work out wiring from Haynes Manual.
Thank you for your help, I have confessed to the Wife my stupidity.
Luck for me she saw the funny side.
Thank you

Well ended up replacing the High Pressure Fuel Pump, I knew it was leaking but seemed a lot worse after changing the Fuel Rail Sensor.
Car is running better than ever.
Thank you to everyone that helped.
