Hi All,

My 2002 TD4 has recently started dieing while being driven (again).

This time the power just goes, but restarts no problem. I get a engine management light and the fault code is "fuel pressure plausibility". This only happens after the engine has been running for a long time (usually 2 hours+)

As usual when taken to landrover they charge me €400 to read out the code and say they don't really know what is wrong.

Any one come across this before?

Regards,

Gray.

Tend to agree wiff Green man [they have pulled yer pants down]. . . . . .most gaylander common faults are covered on this forum just go into search, or just ask. . . .and yes one of your 2 low pressure fuel pumps or fuel filter. . . . . . . .next time just pm me after sending £100 :) :) :)

Unfortunately I knew I was being done, but what can you do?

Is there any way to test the fuel pump? I have read that the uplift pump usually only causes a problem when low fuel, however this happens at all fuel states.

The thing that has me scratching my hear is, if the main fuel pump is dieing, why does the car always restart no problem?

This issue has lead me to wonder if the engine shutdown is being commanded by the ECU?

Gray.

its possible its telling the ecu look i have a fuel problem [mill light] and now its really bad. . . . .so ecu say's ok go into limp home mode [lack of power]. . . . .sooo , fuel filter first, then air filter. . . .then check low pressure pumps or pump [depending on year]. . . . .if they are good then its injectors or high pressure pump. . . .un best oh luck :)
