Morning all,

Back again!!!

Cannot believe my luck, only 2 weeks ago my TD4 returned from the garage with a bill of £1500 to only find something else has manifested.

Whilst reversing off my drive I notice a clunking sound from the rear of the car, thinking it was the buggy in the boot I removed all items before setting off.

Whilst driving a continuous clunking noise can be heard, again from the rear, this sound will speed up or slow down depending on the speed of the vehicle……………… any ideas??

  • Rear diff?
  • VCU faulty?
  • IRD faulty?

Thanks guys.

Will check all wheel nuts tonight then inspect the subframe over the bank holiday and give an update.

Hi all,

So today I thought I would investigate the clunking sound, first up checking all the wheels making sure all were tight and sure enough all were fine!

So I grabbed some tools and had a look under the car, exhaust looked fine so did everything else, I took a moment to think then from the corner of my eye I noticed this bad boy!!!!! (See Picture)

Change the wheel straight away and no clunking sound........... Happy days!!!!
