Guys,
Found a crack in the oil filler on wife's TD4 2005 today. Looks like somebody tried to fix it in the past, but wasn't me. Me-thinks replacement is the better course. Also not sure if the oil around the injectors was due to this crack, or leaky seal on the breather housing.

Just wondering if the M47 cover is the exactly the same as the FL TD4 ?

Thanks,
Pete

If its got the standard crankcase breather filter, and it becomes blocked, oil will escape through the seals. Should be changed every couple of years but very often overlooked.
The freelander one is an M47 engine, if thats what you mean. Although if used in other vehicles there may be differences in the covers

Rover 75 M47diesel cam cover is the same, but not an easy job to remove so maybe that is why someone tried to repair it.

so lots to remove to replace the cam cover, i would look at trying to repair it better somehow.

@Arctic2 thanks for the info, especially the 2 rear bolts & hidden clip.

Ordered one on eBay, plus breather, air filter, gasket, etc from John Craddock.
