Hi Ming,

Back in the pre-war times, when the FL KV6 was still exported towards the US, some of the Yanks got rid of their beerbarrel in the back and replaced it with a slim and sexy bottlesized exhaust. Have seen some pictures of these transformations and it looked as a nice miniskirted sporty car in comparison with the original big botox Brazilian bum one.:D
Unfortunately that US site no longer exists (as far as I'm concerned) and I've not saved (that was before I got a dig.camera and posting pics. became a pleasure:D) pictures of the changes. As far as I can recall it was a direct fit, no cutting nor welding was necessary.

Btw: Did you see the new "offroad" version of the LRX already ? If not, picture attached...... (see, old habits never fade ..........;):):):):))

re-route the pipe work and stick a nice stainless power flow can on the end.
I'm sure I read on this site that a straight through pipe works ok as the turbo takes some of the energy out of the exhaust gases and so some of the noise.
But I may be corrected by someone who has already done this:)

There are two standard back boxes for the Freelander - one has twin tail pipes and the other single. Some of the later TD4 were fitted with the twin version, it is at least 30% bigger than the single tail pipe, the killer is the proper one for the TD4 is the smaller single tail pipe.
Destroyed mine off-road, ordered a new one from the dealer, when it came it was the smaller version. Questioned the change, and according to the build it should have been the smaller one originally. Fitted the smaller one and then destroyed the center box - now that's expensive - comes complete with the rest of the pipe. Turns out its cheaper to have one made by the likes of Steve Parkers (Steve Parker Land Rover Spares, Spare Parts, Freelander, Defender, Range Rover Parts, Land Rover Conversions)
