Hi guys and girls.

Moved fairly recently so not really able to go to the place I used to for servicing (not much good at doing it myself).

Beein ringing round a few places near to me in Moray North Scotland and been quoted for a 96000 mile service to the LR service schedule over £500 !! Was also quoted £220 for a normal 96000 mile service without the belt changes as per the LR schedule.

3 questions.

1. Does anyone know any desent garages near Keith?

2. Do I need the belts changed?

3. How much should I expect to pay?

Cheers in advance

Hi,

Don't know anywhere in Keith but in Elgin I'd suggest giving David McLeod in the Pinefield Ind Est a ring, not sure how much he'd be for the 96K service but recently he changed all my oils supplied by me(Gearbox, IRD, diff) stripped and refurbished diff, refitted a replacement Bell Engineering VCU + bearings, gave the car a "good looking at" and all for slightly less that £150 which I thought was very reasonable

Do you know when your belts were changed last ??? I have just done a 60,000 mile service on my 06 TD4 and changed the belts at same time. As far as I'm aware if the belt were changed at 60,000 miles, they should be good for another 60,000 miles.

It's not hard to service your own car, I changed the diff oil, IRD oil, Gear box oil, and Engine oil, Air and oil filters and did the BMW mod on the crank case breather, and didn't come across any problems.

Today I have changed the prop bearings again no real problems.

All the best

Got to agree with Grayo above, its not difficult to service it yourself as the basics are straight forward enough with the aid of a Haynes manual and especially this forum and its very helpful members, without the forum I'd have never known about the BMW crankcase breather mod, silicone hoses, Synergy2 units, Bell Engineering and service filter kits off ebay. Thanks to all!

Thanks all, I'll ring David McLeod and see how much he will charge. Ref the belts, unfortunely I don't know if they were changed at 60,000 miles so guess I will have to bite the bullet and get them done, but agree I need to look at doing my own servicing. I've got a Haynes manual but thats as far as I've got so far.

Cheers
