hoping the noise is due to it keeping the pressure up due to the leak from the sensor

If it's not a premium quality pump, it will be noisy and short lived.
Get a pump from Advanced Factors, which will work and comes with a 3 year warranty.

SAGA CONTINUES, replaced the hp fuel rail sensor for the short thread, would not start, no fault codes, so replaced it with the long thread version, started straight away, on tickover no leaks from sensor, soon as place revs on it starts to leak, anyone else have this and whats the cure apart from matches

oh also replaced the lp fuel pump and filter for good measure in wheel arch
