Hi Folks,
2007 Freelander 2 2.2 TD4 manual transmission.
Have a concern of not starting. Drove home fine last evening and now wont start.
Put key fob in slot, depress clutch and press the start button, it may start and run for about half a second and then stop. I have tried the spare key and this has the same result. Most times it does not start at all, it cranks absolutely fine.
Can someone give me some pointers, having the ECU read this evening but would appreciate some pointers in advance if possible.
Is there any common concerns?

Thanks in advance.
Jon

96000 miles.
Fuel filter is new about 5k ago. Drove perfect since.
No faults read from ECU using IDS and an EOBD reader.
Have done a lot of examination, sensor plugs, disconnect battery for an hour, leak off test, test for air draw on fuel system ................ No avail
Cranking and will start for about half a second then die.
Strange concern seeing no fault codes available, MIL light normal.
Anyone else any ideas, I'm running out of ideas at this stage !
Thanks folks.

Jon

Does the electronic steering lock release?
The steering lock when disabled sends a signal to the immobiliser if this is faulty the engine wont get any fuel.

Sometimes the steering lock solinoid sticks if it does wiggle the steering wheel before docking the key.

The freelander 2 is also a power hungry car if the battery voltage is below 12.3v the engine will crank. When cranking check the battery voltage doesn't drop below 10.5v or you will have erattic electrical problems due to the ecu not booting properly.
