Hi All,
I am still after that ugly smell. Brought the car to the garage for Mot some days ago with my wife behind in the car to pick me up and she staid well behind because of it. Whitish smoke at first traffic light that I thought it got foggy. Though Mot went well except for some minor oil leak at front/rear diff, which gets fixed, I am still wondering what it could be if anyone has an idea?
Had it just running, in idle all good, when accelerating it started at 1500/2000 rpm and disappeared once back in idle. My wife said while driving it home after picking it up it took long (3mi?) to get properly warm. Not sure if that is related as the thermostat was renewed in 2019 with the water pump, injectors last year all, maf 2018. Could it be the coolant temp sensor needs renewal as well for the heating bit or could that be related to the smell and smoke?
About the smell is it getting too much fuel in or not enough air? The maf I had once off, but no difference. Egr maybe? I read up and down here, but couldn't find anything about conclusive. So far pressure sensor, harness, egr valve, the pneumatic one or the other. What I recognised today as well is that the throttle is a bit sluggish, but like always going to the garage then get get a response that it drives well for its age and mileage.
