Hi everyone - is this a TD or TDi engine - I've read loads of stuff about them. This is in a K reg 1992 110 Defender. Is it the engine to have (if it's a TDi)

Well its not a 2.5TD, I can say that for sure...

The injection pump looks like a bosch, not the lucas CAV found on the 2.5's, but it don't look 100% like a TDI to me either. The inlet manifold is not sitting where it would normally on a 200tdi, but I think thats because its lower on the defender version, and the turbo sits on top, having said that, I have just seen a 200tdi engine in a 110 and its got the usual layout...

Thats the engine to have,its a defender spec 200 - that is overdue a 12000 m service.

Eight, so the inlet sits below the turbo on the Defender version? The pic above is a disco version then?

So - senior members - Just to be sure about this. The original photo I posted is a Discovery engine that's in the Defender 110?

The 12k service bit is cos its leaked about the right amount of oil out the top of the rocker cover bolts - the valve clearances should get done and the oil leak sorted at the same time when the 12k is done.;)

First picture 200tdi defender type engine in Defender. 2nd picture 200tdi disco type engine fitted in Defender.Dont pay too much attention to Jaundiced welshmen, who need to see an optition, Watches Ivor the Engine and thinks he driving a Land rover >Dragons are so outdated now------ come to the home of the celtic tiger and we will teach you a thing or two about land rovers.
