Ok, have a 110 with TD5. Very noticeable vibration, could be misfire, could be something else. It is there on start up and throughout the rev range, on idling or under load. Was recently in for MOT so asked indy for opinion, they reckoned it was crankshaft damper. However, have removed auxiliary belt to disprove any bearing problems on Alternator, water pump or idler pulleys. No difference.
They also said no sign of misfire on their diagnostic kit. I have replaced injector harness, checked for oil in red plug - all clear.Fuel pump priming OK, not whining, still goes like a train up tp 70 +
The only thing that does stop the misfire is when I run it with no coolant. (Short spells!) As soon as I fill with coolant the vibration/shudder/misfire starts again. After leaving for a few days, with coolant in, harder to start than usual and a fair amount of white smoke.
I have one final thought left, but do not want to pre-empt any suggestions anybody else might have?
PS Disconnecting gearbox and lay shaft etc by holding clutch in makes no difference.

I've only just sorted mine yesterday.
I changed wiring harness, injector seals, fuel pump (made it better but didn't fix), oil at the ecu plug checked but ok, boost pressure adjusted using diagnostic kit and boost guage, aux belt changed and the pulls and damper checked for play.
New mass air flow meter as the original went wonky. New fuel filter and all air bleed parts,

Yesterday I replaced the fpr and it's a big improvement. It looks like the spring in the regulator had got weak and it was resulting in naff all pressure at the cylinder head

when it's hard to start does purging it make it easier, if so could be injector seals and washers they can account for the rough running and white smoke, then again so can head gasket

Not hard to start. Purging not required. Runs well and smooth until coolant added, then after about 30 mins, restart and the rough running is back. Think that rules out the fueling issues, seals etc. New harness in also.
Have had the head off and replaced gasket but no difference. Next thought is cracked head? White smoke could be steam

If it's a cracked head get it upto temp then give it a blast down the motorway if it overheats spewing coolant and top hose rock hard then it probably is cracked head on exhaust port and head is scrap
