Hi Guys,

Freelander newbie here, Had my 2000 DI for 2 months now and have had all the classic problems such as rear window, rear engine mount, VCU and now the 3 amigos!

I know that it has been covered on the forum many times and I have searched but just need some experience opinions if you will!

I have the 3 lights on fairly frequently but after 3 cycles of driving the car the lights will often go out for a journey maybe coming back on after 15 miles or even later in the day. Often when the 3 lights are on the ABS and TC does work but sometimes not (as i found in the snow tonight!).

I have now replaced the brake light switch after initially buying the wrong one - I have a 2 pin not the 3 pin one. - but this has not made any difference.

I have checked the HDC switch wires and when the lights are out the HDC works fine.

Can anyone else suggest whats next?

Thanks again Guys

Chris.

As you have found out the brake light switch doesn't cause the 3 amigos on the pre 2002 freelanders.

Other areas to check are wheel speed senors and wiring, reluctor rings, first and reverse gear switches, abs modulator.

Chaser thanks for the reply, Yep light switch was for 2002 cars onward so let that be a lesson to any other early freelander owners.

I am beginning to think that it is a sensor, I will have a look under the car at the weekend when I do the VCU - snow permitting.

Anyone know the ohm reading of a good sensor.

Cheers

somewhere in the freelander section was a really good thread, and it had all the readings and everything. can't find it quickly at the mo, but do a search , it is there somewhere.

950 - 1100 ohms.
