I reversed off the drive the other day and my front R/H wheel bounced off the kerb. the TC light came on and the HDC amber light as well. I switched off the ignition and back on they both went off. Now when i turn ignition on the ABS light does not flash once like it used to. It does go off when you move forward though. Is this because there is now a fault registered on the ECU?

Very similiar happened to me I was reversing out of a building site and went down a huge pothole, the TC light flashed on for about 2 to 3 seconds then went off again, it hasn't come on since and its running OK. The ABS light shouldn't flash it stays on til you do more than 5 MPH, then it goes out. Hope that helps.

I have a little bit of experience with this. ABS is the fundamental system and failure with the ABS will automatically flag up failures with the Traction Control (TC) and also HDC. When you bumped the wheel you probably dislodged or moved the ABS sensor on that wheel.
There are 2 errors that will flag up, one of which can be intermittant that are seen by the ECM. They are:

1. Sensor Voltage out of Range. This is caused by a complete sensor failure. The sensor has either broken down or became open/short circuit. To test this you can disconnect the sensor from the underside of the car and perform a resistance check on the sensor. The average resistance for a working sensor is about 1.3KOhms - 1.5KOhms.

2. Distance from the wheel excessive. The ABS sits in the wheel hub supported by a fitment bush. If you bounced the wheel, the sensor might have move a little and, subsequently, causes a fail flag. This failure is not necessarily, what is called a hard-latch failure, which might explain why the dashboard lights come and go. Have a look and make sure that the sensor is pushed fully in and flush with the hub

Hope this helps

I have an 02 TD4 and the ABS light stays on after start up until my road speed gets to about 5mph... Stays on for quite a while...:D

I have a 53 Td4, and the abs light comes on with the ignition, and goes out after a second, and I always wait for all the lights to go out (not charge/oil/srs) before starting. The srs light and the others go out as soon as engine is running

I have the same problem and have discovered the "front right sensor voltage out of range". A resistance check gives me 962 Ohms which is neither short nor open circuit. Is this resistance acceptable or do I need a new sensor?
