Hi Guys.

Iv had my Landrover Defender 200Tdi Mot'd and insured But i have not yet had my insurance papers through the post so i carnt Tax it yet But if i tax it over the internet could i drive it around while the tax disc is in the post .

Thanks.

I think that the offence is not DISPLAYING a current tax disk - but if yu get a print out of the online payment - the fuzz might take a kind view.

police dont deal with tax disc's....at worst you'll get a reminder form on your windescreen. careful out council car parks as they will ticket you for non display

My personal favourite gripe - why the F*CK do we still need a tax disc? All the info is available to whoever needs it on the big ol database that also tells em we're insured and MOT'd...

Personally I keep the bike tax disc under the seat, had one nicked and another damaged by water. To the casual observer I have no disc... have never had an issue when stopped, in fact the last time i was stopped the nazi cuunt (who was only checking the speed of bikes and pulling each and every one, even though some cars were passing well over the limit!) was only bothered by the fact he thought my chain needed oiling even though i had degreased and relubed it 250yds earlier (I had just set off from home...) needless to say the bike cop stood behind him was ****ing himself when i told the **** this!

This came up on another forum (not Landy related) the other day, it seems you now get 5 days grace from when you tax the vehicle on line, so you wouldn't be prosecuted for failure to display if you were stopped and reported during that 5 day period. It has the details on the page where you go to tax it online.

The problem with online tax is that insurance companies have a 7 day window in which to update the computerised database of insurance, so you could get the paperwork before you're even able to tax the vehicle online.

police dont deal with tax disc's.... ??

I got stopped by one eagle eyed bobby with out of date tax disc from across 4 lanes traveling in the dark got the points and fine to prove it

while out walkin me dog at 12.30 am i saw the filthy coppers in a jam sandwich drive straight to my disco get out and check the tax ! the holder had dropped between the dash and windscreen and you could only see the top of the holder. i suppose some goody goody thought i had no tax and reported me, the w*nkers. when he saw the top of the tax disk the copper got back in his pig mobile and drove off. i made sure it was stuck in the window that night ! aint given them a chance to get a silver star :)
so the cops DO take an interest in vehicle tax .

that might have been the way a few years ago........ vehicle excise has been de criminalised just like parking enforcement. Police have no powers to deal with it ffs
