Just taken custodianship of an old (1961) BSA, but had a major issue with DVLA website trying to tax it!
DVLA allow tax on new vehicle supplement, but need 12 digit document number!
As the V5 was an old style one, the document ref on new keepers slip was was only 11 digits!
Still waiting for new V5 to arrive!
Try as I may couldn't get it to work, phoned DVLA but unable to speak to a human and auto system just fails as cannot offer any joy!
Finally resulted to web search, on Piston Heads, circa 2015, someone suggested prefixing the 11 digit number with a "0"
Mutts nutts! Vehicle now taxed (historic = £0!)
So, if anyone out there putting a landy back on the road after many years, and all you have is new keeper with 11 digits on the doc. number, just prefix with a "0"!
Time for a British twin to oil the roads of Shropshire! :)

Class! Had a couple of Triumphs previously (T21 & 3TA), well, years ago, and this is on loan from a neighbour as he isn't riding at present.
Got a Honda and BMW as well, but modern stuff just isn't the same!
Must admit I'm really enjoying it! Brings back the "essential values" of motorcycling, great sound, not rushed, and respect from those who appreciate a bit of nostalgia!
Better start saving in case he decides to sell it! Would really miss it.

Only really called in the Raven for the Big Breakfast or when just passing if out with friends for a brew!
What happens on Thursday? Is it a general meet or the older / British stuff? Evening or daytime?

Thursday evenings, a general meet. Sometimes you get some really interesting stuff turn up! The best is the Thursday before BSB at oulton, you can get a 1000 bikes there, easy
