For advice and interest!

My '68 series 2a had no Vin plate. The front NS chasis leg had been replaced years ago and some clown had binned the VIN number. It IS IMPOSSIBLE to start the MOT computer these days without checking the VIN number. I had three separate visits trying to get the thing through without a VIN. In the end, the people at the main MOT/DVLA centre granted a secret code to allow it to go through the test. They are not keen to do this, but I guess many of us will have kit form series landys with replacement parts that don't quite look original. This might just help you if you get some plates without a VIN. number, the lads at mu local MOT centre had not seen one of this age for years, so it was all a bit of a puzzle to them. After all the visits, it passed with a new wiper blade, not so bad after 40 years. I was surprised that they were not more concerned about the calander brakes. (Two or three days notice required) and the smoke.. but it is getting on a bit.

Good luck!

All you have to do mate is get an engraver to make you an alluminium plate engraved with the VIN number on your registration document, pop rivet it to the bulk head, or on the inside of your Landy near to the speedo, problem solved.
