Tax disc

My landy has been sornd for a while. Now i have an MOT and ins the nice lady in the post office said i could tax it Friday. Can i use it on the road from Friday or do i need to wait till Monday the 1st.?

Ok found this on the DVLA web site..

The new tax disc is only valid from the first day of the month you have taxed from.

If you buy tax on Friday it'll be backdated to the 1st September, effectively costing you a months worth of tax.

Nae the lady said if i tax it today Thurs then that would apply but from tomorrow it will be next month.

Im just doing similar. I sorned mine as i have been out the country for 9 months. Ive had a friend MOT it and now im trying to tax it but i need the number of the V5 which is at home! :doh: now usually id ring the wife and get the number no probs but she is in Australia and im still away in Vancouver so i guess i cant do anything with it?!

I have the reference number from when it was SORN'ed but its not letting me do anything with it, i guess this isnt the reference number it refers to on the website?!

Rubbish, why is it so bleeding difficult? i want to give them money and now i can't!

And relax ahhhh.

just chill, & do it online.
there big bro. computor will know all the answers
as long as you know the rego`
in the meantime, it will give you a referance number to place in your heart,
or landies window.

laminate it a few times
(i do it 3 times) then bolt it to your motor,
as It cant get wet/muddy/stolen..

Taxed mine yesterday (Thursday) and its dated 31/3/13 but she said don't display it till 1st

Thats what im trying to do! It wants the reg number and the number from the V5. Which i dont have as the V5 is the other side of the world!

The other option for online taxing is to give them the V11 number from the SORN declaration.

My V11 number does not appear to work however.

Its all rubbish and can kiss my ginger bal*s! :lol:

Well got mine taxed today

but cant use it till Monday

So will use the weekend to finish off a couple of wee jobs still outstanding...
