Very smart. My mrs is similarly uninterested except recently admitting it sounded better. She was only in it as she needed it for its van capabilities.

Thank you; as is yours if it's the one on your profile picture, I assume it's a military as well.:kettlepot:

Thanks. Actually "Arnie" is a bit of a Heinz special build, starting life as an off road pick up build, I decided to have it converted to a soft top last year.

It's not stopped raining since I put the Bikini hood on "Eric" so I've put the full tilt back on this morning!

Yep I reckon they generally look better fully clothed. :) took the canvas totally off mine and after a few weeks put it back on again!

that's a cracking defender and a good job on the conversion ,i notice theres red O.A.T antifreeze in there looking at the header tank,i was told this is not good for the 300tdi,mine has the comma green stuff, anyone know if this is right?

Fitted a new MOD steering guard yesterday. Think it more appropriate on an MOD defender than the plate type; still, matter of opinion I suppose.
Any suggestions as to what next on the tarting up agenda??

I can't remember seeing those guards on any defenders when I was serving
I have seen then for sale though claiming that they are mod. Wolfs had the plate style. Are you wanting to keep it standard?

Not as a show vehicle or anything - just trying to afford it the respect it deserves.

Lol. Trust me, it probably didn't get any respect in service. Driven like it was stolen by thousands of different squaddies like me :D A nice set of tyres can totally transform the look.

Witham's had some really nice looking NATO green alloys on their auction site a while back; I think they were on the later MOD Defenders.

(We've 2 soldiers in our immediate circle so I know what you mean!!):D:D

I just needed to show somebody as SWMBO has no interest whatsoever.
Changed the 2.5na for a Disco 300tdi, new power steering, removed some bits and put new seats, mats etc in. The changes have made it much easier to drive for an old git like me.

Nice looking Landy, it's always nice to see someone else project. Think I will have to get my hands dirty and tidy mine up a bit. Having a new clutch fitted at the moment.

Cool that answer my question cheers :)

Yeah they were fitted to later vehicles, pulse ambulances and some normal defender variants. Not a regular thing though I don't think.

I don't like the flat plate type jobs, this looks more subtle and less 'aggressive 4x4' lol

:p What's wrong with the aggressive look? lol I painted my flat type black so it's less subtle but the aggressive/mean look was exactly what I wanted
