tapping/sucking noise.water loss

hello,i,ve got a slight tapping noise coming from the drivers side of my v8 3.9,its sounds like cam wear but after the engine has warmed it turns into a sucking sort of noise?but i,ve just noticed steam coming from just behind the drivers side rocker cover(this could explain my water loss/pressure) when fired up .question is could this be head gasket/inlet manifold gasket or valley gasket and could the noise/water leak be related.any help much appreciated.
