dont think there are many people running micky thompson over here, maybe only the comp guys. besides, you have only given people a few hours to reply! its bank holiday over here and people are out enjoying themselves, not answering your questions on tyres they prob never heard of before!

i had a set of mickey thompson baja's on a trike i bought..

horrible for road use(especially with only three road wheel's and the front being a 160 bike tire)..so swaped them for some falken's on 19" rim's and block lifted the axle to compensate for the radial difference..

spose they would be good in the situation they are made for but for the extra cost over the price of a good set of mud tire's or at's here i wouldent go for them..

Point taken:) Didn't realise it was a bank holiday there. Thanks. I'll be more patient!

Made some enquiries over here & they seem pretty good, though didn't realise the Baja's come in so many sizes so was wondering what sizes best suit & what the performance is like.

Thanks for that spudy. Think I'll go for something a bit cheaper. I wonder if I could find a "rent a tyre" place to try a set for the weekend?

I think you'll find we have totally different tyres over here. Lot of their catalouges seem to be filled with remoulds & brands i aint ever seen.

Mickey thompsons, Radial or bias & what do you intend to use them for. The bias are super strong, very grippy, horrible to drive on, very expensive & only 1 importer (a few guys bring in the odd container) but really your at fourby's mercy - they also have a really neatish attempt at price fixing. The catalouge has a recommended retail price & dealers who go below it get their arses kicked & sometimes get the product pulled.
Radial's are pretty good allround tyres, wear fairly quickly on bitumen but pretty competent off road, same supplier so same deal.
Supply used to sometimes be a bit of an issue but they seem to have it under control. Same guys also handle cooper & super swamper.

Goodyear MTR are a great all round muddy, BFG aren't bad. Simex you would obviously know about..

Really depends what you want, are they a second set for offroading only?? if not you dont want bias ply unless massive vibration, rapid wear & a hefty price tag dont bother you.

I used to have a tyre shop in melbourne & still have a few contacts up north if its of any use to you when you decide what you want.

Cheers,

Dave.
