Got a 97 disco 300tdi and my tailgate doesn't open.

Tried to change the springs and got fed up.. threw it back together and got ready for work and now it doesn't open at all.. how do I get it open?
Knock out the pins?

You need to take the door card etc off from inside the car then fiddle with the levees attached to the lock till it opens.

Tried that for ahout 3 hours.. doesn't work

Knocking the pins out the hinges will not open the door and the lock on the other side of the door will still be engaged
