I have an '03 TD4 five door with an intermittent problem with the tailgate window. Occasionally the window will not drop. When this happens it will not respond to the blipper, the dashboard switch or the tailgate door handle. There is no noise and no movement of the window. Consequently, the back door does not release. If you try to open the tailgate all that can be heard is one click from what I presume to be from a switch associated with the tailgate handle. When it is working OK, the window will respond to all three methods of opening and will lower and raise as it should do. By locking and unlocking the car it will sometimes cure itself. The other afternoon it failed when full of shopping and had to clamber through the rear seats. After a couple of hours of frutration I left it. Tried it a little later and all is OK again. The problem occured again for a period of 3 days and then corrected itself whilst driving. Whilst all was ok and I was able to open the tailgate door I have removed the trim. I have unplugged all the wiring bit by bit and squirted WD although all the connections looked OK. All is still working but what happens if I refit the trim---Is there anybody out there who can give advice? Thanks for looking.

Hello, I believe you have two issues here,

1. Plastic runners on the rear window need re greasing (white type grease)

2. To reset the window / lock, remove one of the posts from your battery then re connect, use the window raise lower button on the window a couple of times, window will re sync and a beep sound will be heard.

Cheers Dutch RR

Does the rear wiper work? If not then this will be your problem, if the ccu thinks the wiper is on then it wont allow you to open the window.

Seen this many times and can often be confused for a window fault.

Dutch RR thanks for that information.

I had a new battery fitted yesterday to my 2001 flander and the back window will go up and then staright back down again with a beep.

I will try out your solution and let you all know how it goes. Last time I had a problem with the back door not working it cost £400 and they couldn't tell me how thye fixed it, removing a battery terminal may be the way!!

Great stuff
