Tailgate regulator problem

I replaced the tailgate regulator but it refuses to work. It went to the bottom position when I reconnected the battery but nothing happens when I try to close it with the switch on the centre console. Neither does it work when i press the unlock button on the remote. When I press the "down" end of the console switch it beeps.
I have tried to leave the battery disconnected for an hour but it does not help. Is there another way to reset it?

Now it works. Had to lock/unlock a couple of times and disconnect/reconnect battery and then suddenly the window went up when I operated the console switch. The alarm bleeped at first when I locked and unlocked but now it is back to normal.
