How can i stop this message coming up on a 1997 P38. Ive tried slamming it, gently pushing it and greasing the latches.

Remove the carpeted paneland check the connections etc. in the lower tailgate for starters

ok thanks, is the sensor in there? it happened a while ago so i lubed everythin up and worked fine until now.

According to the wiring diagrams for the tailgate there are two switches, maybe one is not making. Have a look at the circuit and check switches are working okay. There will be a feedback input to the BECM.

Podge, was it your top or bottom tailgate??? my top one wont lock inless you deadlock the car.

bit of black tape over the read-out in the instrument panel? works wonders for peace of mind!

I also put a switch in so i could turn that bloody annoying beeb beeb beeb off.

I haven't got a warning light on my classic,but I know when its open as when I am driving along the interior lights come on and I get a cold draught on the back of my neck !!
