Freelander 1 tailgate mico switch

hi all help please.my tailgate working ok .but sometimes the warning light on dash comes on i know its the mico sw. inside the door catch playing up
as when i spray some wd 40 into the catch all is ok for a little time.can i do away with the mico all-together to stop this happening now and again

I would think the issue is with the latch, not the microswitch. Does the rear window drop? The rear door microswitch is disabled above 6Mph. So if it happens at higher speed and the window isn't dropping, then the door latch is to blame.

Edit. Ah you are thinking it's the door open sensor in the latch.

You can't disconnect that, as the CCU uses it to sense when the latch has closed, so it knows to drive the window up.

hi mate.yes door open warning light on dash.took out complete latch yesterday all working ok .put it all back together and all ok this morning started car no warning light on all fine reversed down drive dam light came back on sprayed some wd into door catch open and closed tailgate a few times window opens a closes as it should dash light goes out all all working fine now,note this problem has been on going for some time now ,strange thing though as weather gets colder the problem happens much less

Buy a used latch off ebay or from local scrappy or buy new at 5 times the price. You pays yer money.....
You need the micro switch working so the window drops to let you open the door.
