t reg p38 gearbox

hi all i brought a t reg p38 auto box with the later engine in it and it seems to be changing gear to late it wont change till about 2200 revs i did have a 96 model and that use to chage about 1500-1600revs and wonderd if theres a problem with the t reg one as its seems to be holding onto the gears

does it have sport mode and if so is it stuck in sport mode?

yes it has a sports mode and the light goes on and off when u press it but now u mention the gear change is no diffrent when u press it on or off so it could be is there a way to check it to be 100% sure

it will probably need a diagnostic to check the ecu for the gearbox

ok mate cheers for ur help i did take it for a run half hour ago just to check and the was no diffrence could not get it to change into 4th till about 48mph will probley explain my bad mpg i'll book it in and let u know how i get on

they dont change into 4th till around 48mph
have you changed the oil/filter?
worth doing! and very easy..

There's nothing wrong with the tranny, they are supposed to change around the 2200ish rpm as long as you aint driving it like you stole it. It will change earlier if you keep right foot pressed very lightly on gas pedal. If it always changed at 1500rpm youd be doing 18 -20 mph in 4th gear.
