Good afternoon all
Can any one tell me what sort of symptoms would I get if the throttle position sensor was faulty. It changes down on cickdown but it will not pickup, it just revs and stays at the same speed
Thanks will appreciate your help

Do you mean the RPM increases but the road speed doesn't. If that is the case slipping primary forward clutch in gearbox.

On thinking about it, if I let my foot of slowly it will respond and through you back in seat or is that what you would expect with the problem you suggest

Lets us get this straight. Are you saying that when you put your foot down the revs rise but the road speed does not?

I will be driving along then if I have to accelerate hard it will change down 2 gears say at 50 it will stay at that speed untill I ease up my foot then it goes up 1 gear and flys away. Have I explained it a bit better

Maybe not a slipping clutch then. Get some decent diag on it and see if anything is recorded.

Just read a post you put up to name the model, it is a P 38
I must also add to my last reply that it misfires

Diag needed you could guess well into next year and not get it right. People need something to go on for definitive answers. ALL the information at one time is good, not drip fed stuff. We can now take it that yours is a petrol P38. Gems or Thor? Knowing all the info may allow someone to come up with an answer from experience. That is why the post reference info was made.;)

Sorry I am blooming useless at this. It is a 4lt P38 with the Bosch injection ( think it is the Thor ) thanks for any help

Ok if nobody comes up with anything sensible shortly, you need to get it on some good diagnostics, that may give you a clue as to what is happening. Guessing with these things is like doing a plain black jigsaw on a dark night with a blindfold on.

Did Tomcat not give you back your crystal ball yet?
