Just bought a Synergy 2 - waiting for it to arrive.

Going to fit it to my 2003 TD4 - any advice? I have blanked off the EGR and changed the crankcase breather for the BMW one as well as putting new intercooler hoses on.

I think my MAF may be faulty so I am hoping the Synergy will compensate otherwise I believe I can swop it out for a cheaper Piersburg one.

Any experiencers of the Synergy 2?

Thanks

yep you have done most of the mods allready.

i would just recommend fitting a K&N Air filter to finish it all off.

also get a new pierburgh MAF

then you can have the synergy set on high :p:p:p

as roveron recommends a peirburgh MAF when using it on high as it will kill you OEM MAF :D

bet you cant wait to get it fitted - believe me you will get a scare on the difference it makes once fitted and cranked up :D

Good stuff - realistically I am hoping for better fuel economy to be honest but I am sure a bit more power will be good also.

I am not sure if o have an injector or MAF problem at present - so I hope this might bottom that out as well.

Where can I get a Pietsburg MAF from at a good price?

yep

lets hope the synergy sorts it out for you then.

got my pierburgh maf from roverons website.

but i think euro car parts does it aswell. but not sure 100%

No point in the getting Pierburg maf. The Synergy will work perfectly well with a Bosch and won't damage it whatever the setting. The Pierburg is only recommended because it is a cheaper and apparently better quality replacement should the original Bosch one be completely shot, which yours isn't from what you describe.

Your more likely to kill a maf with the oil from a K+N so for me that's enough reason to avoid them. The original paper filter is capable of flowing a lot of air provided it's changed on time.

That's good news - I was going to try the original MAF anyhow and I did wonder about the oil from the K&N. I have a pair on a Moto Guzzi I have and they are oily.

The K&N filter oil won't do your MAF any good so either clean it & don't oil it or only apply the very lightest amount of oil.

Fitted Synergy 2 and yep makes it a lot more responsive and torquey - worth doing but unfortunately my fluttery miss type thing at midrange is still there - drat and things!!! Looks like it's an injector then hey ho

yea ! dont be scared lol

I have mine on 9 all the time. it doesnt seem to like 10 too much.

leave it on 9 and let your right foot choose the power :D

I will play with it but have the original Bosch MAF in it and gave a daily m way commute of 64 miles so economy is important.

What mpg are you getting on 9!?

I still have the mid range flutter so looks like I have an injector down.

If you've got a dodgey injector dont get led astray by Hippo, turning it all the way up without having a spare in the boot is a sure fire way of getting stuck at the side of the road whilst you wait for the AA..........I know from experience:eek:.
If you have a bad injector these things will find it, and if yours is showing signs of failing without the synergy on...... using it will only make it fail sooner.
I don't use mine anymore, but have to agree with Hippo that the high settings do bring a smile to your face.

I am on my 4th tank of cleaner and it is improving but not gone. The basic story is that an injector collar stud rusted and broke allowing the injector to start coming out - about an inch up - jammed in by the remaining bit of the collar. I bought it like this - had the studs replaced and injectors out but there was a lot of carbon build up around the injector body. I usually do my own mechanics but this tine a local guy did the job and said the injectors seemed ok - I am thinking that the one in question may have got a bit too carboned up and is not spraying correctly. I have another on the way so may swap it out and see.

Why does the Synergy 2 wear out an injector? Am I going to use more fuel?
Cheers

Your economy will be better as you can be a lot lighter with your right foot.
As far as I know the synergy units increase the amount of fuel/pressure passing through the injectors which is why they attatch to the common rail fuel pressure sensor.
I had one of his first units, which were the tu3...somthing or other. I still have it although i don't use it anymore. These first ones had a bad home made plug that went onto the pressure sensor and would let crap get in.
I thought about getting a new one recently as I still have the original maf after 70k .... although it seems alright it's gonna fault sooner or later and roveron will take it in part ex against a new one......I do miss the extra power and response they give and I have 4 new injectors on standby so...maybe...just maybe.
I used to run mine on medium power with high throttle response under normal running and then every now and then turn it right up for a bit of fun:D

Ha ha just noticed the Synergy 2 arrow on the grey knob was on about 6! No wonder it was flying today!! Back down to 2 now and I think my pseudo miss has all but gone.

One question though can I plug a diagnostic in with the Synergy fitted and switched on?
