Disco 2 Syncing Odometer with Nanocom

has anyone had any luck in doing this? On my Nanocom it just comes up with a communication error whichever direction I try to sync. I recently had to get a new binnacle and the new one is showing 120k miles, the vehicle has done around 175k miles! Would like to get it sorted before the next MOT

Edit: It actually says "Error: Unable to perform the function"

Think if it's like the P38 you will have to do it in diagnostic mode. Select BECM on Nanocom with ignition turned off. You should get a dash message saying "Diagnostic mode" then it can be done. The mileage should then go to the higher of the two stored values.
 
Had another go, still keeps coming up with "Error: Unable to perform the function". My mistake, this is what it was saying before.
 
Hi Tom,
I take it you're following the path - Valeo BCU/utility/syn BCU to odometer.
It will have to record the highest of the two readings.

go into the settings first, enable the odometer error warning and save this setting then try to sync the odometer to BCU only not the other way around then if it works go back and enable the error warning again
 
if it still fails to operate i'm affraid that the instrument pack had an invasive intervention as the mileage to be reduced and memory chip was corrupted then you can't do anything ... 120K seems a bit low for a 15 year old vehicle though...

It’s done 175k, which is what I’m trying to get the odometer to show. I’m not trying to reduce it

No joy with turning the odometer warning on...
 
read again what i wrote... i was speaking about the instrument pack's memory chip and you said it has 120K in it, i understood what you want, as long as nanocom worked with the old instrument pack IMO the new one was a bit ''modified"

can't you save the enabled status or what?
 
Maybe it can’t be done then, no idea if it would have worked with the old binnacle it’s been binned as the previous owner had removed leds from it!

so do you say that the odometer was flashing with this new IP then you disabled the warning which worked and now you can't save the enabled status back... you have to drive it a bit as to start flashing again... eventually try to disconnect the battery for few minutes, after reconnection turn ignition to 2 and let it so 5 minutes then try again with nanocom...if still no joy IMO you'll have to live with that or to send the IP to experts who can modify the mileage cos it's possible... the old instrument pack would have been handy now cos you could have only swaped the memory chips:(

The "enabled status" of the Odometer warning I can turn on and off fine but to start from the beginning.... The mileage in the BCU is now reading 282656km (175634 miles) and in the Instrument Panel 193089km (119979 miles). When I bought the vehicle two months ago the mileage was flashing because it was reading just over 176000 miles, so I disabled the warning to stop the flashing. We then had problems with the 3 amigos which @sierrafery kindly provided a solution for but we found the original IP had LED's removed to cover up the warning lights. So I bought a used IP but this had only 120000 miles on it. I specifically bought a Nanocom to sync the mileage from the BCU to the IP, I had previously been using a Lynx for diagnostics which was fine for what we do but it didn't do that. So it's a bit disappointing it doesn't do it.

The old instrument panel I have just found is still in the bin, so if we know which part is the memory we could potentially swap the memory over.
 
let's hope it's not some data link broken in the IP and that's why you didnt manage with Lynx either cos Lynx is reliable being made on the same software like Testbook T4 and as now nanocom makes tricks too the IP is very suspect... unfortunately i just know from theory that the memory chip is replaceable as i've had a chat some time ago with an expert about this but i didnt do that myself so i can't guide you further on this, if you have the skills and tools dismantle the old IP and take some pics from the board and if there are more chips there i'd might be able to recogniose the one which is reponsible for the odometer memory then i'll tell you

Thanks. The Lynx doesn't have the ability to sync the odometer at all, hence why we bought the Nanocom. I'll contact the Nanocom people and see if they can shed some light on it.
