It's become apparent that my p38 is governed by the BECM.
Everyone talks about sync mate, autologic, and other plug in systems that are used to talk to the car. It's just cost me £75 to have my BECM resynced and was told that it could happen again.
Is there a cheaper way to do this or can you buy it for yourself and what does it entail?
P.s my keyfob is still not syncing to car. Help on this would also be very much appreciated. Sheffield area.

Synchmate pays for itself in 2 uses. Takes less than a minute.
Check the key battery and buttons, a refurb kit on flebay is about a fiver.
does the red light on the key flash? Have you a second key?

Only got the one key. Led flashes every time. Replaced batts and buttons. Need to give resync another bash now that becm has been recoded to see that makes a difference.

If you are planning on keeping the car it might be worth considering buying a Faultmate Extreme kit, assuming you have a laptop and can use it. You can always sell on the Faultmate with the car as an extra. Then you can learn to diagnose anything on the car. While you are at it download the free EAS software from www.rswsolutions.com before you have an EAS fault:D

My mates 4.6 '02 Vague has mind of it's own too. He managed to knock out the BECM with a result of it not starting by using his laptop on top of the bonnet to do his lottery lol.

The AA were useless, ended up getting it recovered home, bought a syncmate and bobs your uncle it started! Seller said if it's done it once it'l probably do it again.

As an addition, when he goes through the electric gates to the caravan compound the EAS lights start to go crazy!

Have fun!
