Hi all

I have a 1985 factory v8, i believe it was purchased as a comerical vehicle. I know its old and cars these days have progressed but it seems really solid. I would expect it to be a softer ride on the road for it to be more flexible offroad.

Would the landy come with harder springs as it was bought comercial?

The front shocks and all springs are original (so 25 years old now) aswell as the shock for the steering. Rear shocks are about 3Kmiles old.

Do these get just hard over time?

Everything seems to be working correctly. I had the back full with concrete slabs last month and whenever i went over a bump or a rut it fet allot smoother then when empty, okay i know things change when under compression so thats why i wondered if i have a commercial landy then it expected to be laden and my isn't atall thus not under the correct compression to performe correctly.
?

Thanks in advance
Adie

In the winter i put a couple of 100kg in the back just to give me a bit more 'feel' when its ice or snow conditions...it makes a hell of a difference, I'd say you may want to change your front springs and dampers, their responsiveness does diminish over time...without pics its difficult to say what you have, but there are heavy duty springs which give a firmer ride.

Cool cool, When we rebuilt it we had a look at the springs, they didnt have any markings on them atall (we know there original though as paperwork is sound, but doesnt say anything diff about the springs) and when compairing with heavy duty after market springs they didnt seem alike.
Will grab some at Billing next month.

Cheers

one easy solution to obtaining a smoother ride is to replace the rear springs with those off a Disco - did it to my daughters 90 and it made all the differance, still carries similair weight when loaded and horse box on the back makes no differance.
