Cut a long story short.. had a squeeking from my front N/s suspension for a long time now and it's just doing my nut in!
After following advice from LZ I've replaced pretty much everything on the front end (I think)... wish bones, drop links, track rod ends, brakes, discs... local mechanic suggested my noise might be noise transfer from diff mount... done!...then suggested may be noise from exhaust... done!... passed MOT 2 weeks ago....VCU replaced when I first got it... surely it has to be the front legs/springs?

I had a really loud squeak from the front corner one day - was really loud. It was though the hottest day of the year and stopped as soon as it started and not heard it again in 2 years.

I didn't look into it but presumed it was the shock/strut.

Does it happen when you press down on the corner of the car or only when you are driving? Is it only over bumps or when cornering?

Have you got a video (with sound!) of it?

I've jumped up and down on the front end and nothing... nothing on corners... only hear it over speed humps (or big dips/lumps in the road).
I haven't done a video of it no.

Have the large rear wishbone bushes been replaced? When they split, they can start to squeak. The ARB D bushes can also squeak too.

The ARB bushes done on last MOT... rear wishbones haven't been done. The noise only occurs when the front n/s wheel goes over a lump.

Spray large wishbone bush with soapy water. Soak it well and try again!! If cured change the bushes. The ones at the back of the wishbone arm.

I've got squeaky large bushes on mine. They're silent on flat roads, but squeak on short sharp bumps.

I fitted new genuine bushes a couple of years ago, and they've squeaked ever since.

I'm going to fit some polyurethane bushes, when I get a chance.

Thats interesting... is there an advantage/disadvantage to poly bushes rather than original ones?

Poly bushes improve component location, at the expense of slightly increased road noise. However my squeaking is now so loud, I doubt I'll notice an increase in road noise.

In my experience, it's quite the opposite, with poly lasting indefinitely.
Maybe it depends on the make. I've never used them but I've heard reports that they don't last as long. Also, I used to have client who is a major polymers manufacturer supplying the makers of poly bushes and their technical director once told me that they degrade quickly on vehicles that are not used often.

Maybe.

That's interesting. I've been using Superflex polyurethane bushes for over 20 years, without any problems at all. There's one high performance Triumph GT6 Roadster (affectionately call The Beast by it's owner) which is still using the same Superflex polyurethane bushes I fitted when it was rebuilt in 1999.
Maybe these cheaper EBay bushes degrade faster, but I was under impression that polyurethane as a material, doesn't degrade at all in automotive use. I guess time will tell.
