Hi, My 2000 Disco 2 V8 has been converted to springs on the rear, the fronts look stock I want to do a 2" lift but don't know what the rears are, is there some way of checking or should I just replace both to be sure?
 
Mine's the same, converted to springs on the rear before I bought it. Planning on doing a 2" lift at some point. My thinking is that I'll just replace all four when I do my lift, if nothing else, they're all new and none worn and potentially likely to fail before the others, due to wear. You also know that if you replace all at once, that you have the correct springs etc fitted and aren't risking anything.
 
Ron...if the front are stock then likely the rear ones were standard height when put on. Probably you'll need a lift kit, which in most cases is just 4 new springs. I did a 2" lift (Old man emu ones) but ended up having to get extended shocks as well, as the standard shocks are not really long enough if you do any off-roading. I also added extended brake hoses.
 
Do it only if you really need it. I have just removed mine (britpart 2" kit, springs, shocks and spacer for air bag) and made it standard.
If you do, also add longer brake lines. Mine had the standard ones and once when i lifted the car on the body it almost broke. It also could happen while you are offroading and the car jumps...
I also had some strange noise from the back (probably from bushes) which has gone when i removed the lift.

Just doing it in order to do some gentle greenlaning, nothing like mud plugging or wading across Windermere, thanks mate.

Mine is fine with standard suspension.

Green lanes are roads, even the bubmpy repaired with rocks one I use is fine.

But I know of two, lifts would make unusable as then the car would be too high to fit
