Hi at the moment I'm running 2" blocks and +2" HD springs on a Disco 1, I've got all the right gear to go with the lift e.g castor correction arms and wide angle props, no anti roll bars fitted +5 shocks ect.

Question is will I get a better result with 3" springs and 1" blocks?
I'm also thinking of the wkd hurricane set-up so new shocks with more travel.

This is my daily drive but only live a mile from work so not really any issue with road manners apart from when I'm laning in Wales or the like.

Anybody had any experience with thus type of setup?

Get out and walk/cycle/rollerskate then! ;) Your engine will thank you for it as it's not good for it to never warm up properly.

Thanks for that advise but there's a slight issue that 1. I have to take tools to work with me and 2. I'm disabled in the fact I can't walk very far due to a motorcycle accident in 1989

Being a mechanic I realise the need to warm engine and my engine runs for 20 mins every day to work even though I only drive a mile there, no thoughts on the original question then?

Tim, I put +3" springs on all round when I got the 90 .. trouble is they were HD and too hard and I hated them, so quickly went back to +2's which made more sense to me. I suspect the heavier Disco and extra tools you carry might just work with them, especially at the rear.

We still have a spare pair of the 3", TC has a pair on the front of his that he was trying, but they work well with his large bumper and winch weight, so he's also thinking of putting the spare pair of 3's on the rears .. otherwise you could have tried a set.

In fact, if he ain't changed over so you can try a pair anyway to at least get a feel for them before you buy, if you like!

Pop over to Doncaster some time and we'll fettle them with you if you like .. ;)

Nice one Paul, to do that I'd have to get some 1" blocks as to keep the hight right, was wondering if the extra travel on springs would be better?, can get some from M&M but just thought I'd ask on here first, if I fit a wkd kit thought it might be better to have the longer springs thinking it would keep weight on the wheels for longer during articulation, I might be wrong on my thinking though.

Reasonable thinking Tim. I think they didn't work for me on the 90 was simply weight .. or lack of it, compared to the Disco.

That's fair enough then. I would guess that having longer springs and shorter spacers would make for a slightly more bouncy ride as the spring rate will be lower. Road handling might be affected as a result. You would get more articulation though

Dunno about more bouncy, that's what the shocks are for .. I think like Tim said that the longer spring is more likely to keep extra pressure on the axle for longer than a shorter spring, adding to mechanical grip. It may not be much in real life, but it'll be there, and we all know that sometimes you only need a little bit more .. ;)

Road handling is a minor consideration when you're after off-road grip .. but I doubt it'd be affected greatly. ;)
