I have to admit I am not a landy owner although love the look of the early ones and would certainly have on in my fleet for off roading when I am rich enough to have a fleet
Anyway, the reason I have joined is to hopefully get some info about the rear airbag suspension that was fitted to some discovery mkII's (I think).
I am a 190e nut and have my car looking pretty much perfect but with the increase in speed bumps I want to fit it with an option to raise the front up so I dont scrape on the bumps.
The plan is for the car to be on its springs with the airbags fully deflated and out of the way. When a bump is looming a flick of a switch the bags will pump up and push down the suspensionabout 2 inches.
This air based system seems like a possible option. Am I correct in thinking these bags are replacements for the springs rather than assisting springs ? So they will easily be able to actually lift the car.
I dont plan on fitting the brain, is the wiring for the pump itself relatively simple or is the brain sealed inside the pump unit ?
I assume there are valves to release the pressure and lower the car or is this all done from the pump ?
Finally does anyone have the dimensions of the bags ? I need diameter of each end, max length and min length.
Thanks for your help, it seems a lot of owners are removing the sls system and fitting springs so these bags are quite cheap to pickup.
