Suspected imobiliser fault

Then sometimes it will restart straight away and other times wont start for 10 mins or something it will spin the starter motor but you can tell its not compressing any diesel.

Any ideas where to start the hunt? I'm sure it must be related to the immobiliser as it drives perfect the rest of the time.
