Hi Guys

Im new here, just brought my freelander two weeks ago. 65,000 miles, full service history, extremely clean.

Its already loosing coolany and fast. (i've been stiched)

The system is pressurising badly and its running a bit lumpy on idle.

Block tested it yesterday and showing signs of hydro carbons in the system.

Can anyone suggest a god reputable place in dorset to get the headgasket replaced?

thanks jamie

We did have a problem with our old MG ZT with the 2.5 litre KV6 engine fitted... not sure if the engine is the same in the Freelander, would suspect so.

If you remove the large plastic engine cover (remove oil filler first), on the left hand side under where the cover was are three breather pipes. Two run front to back in the engine bay, with a plastic T-Piece linking the third. On ours, the plastic T had disintegrated and was causing it to use water (lots) and also an oily smell in the cabin. Car was 3 years old, 60k miles.

Not quite sure what they all do to be honest, but once we replaced the T (pennies part) everything was luverly. We thought HGF to start with, turned out to be this. Worth a look?

if you are very lucky and it turns out to be the t piece (yeah right). get rid quick, do a search on here for threads about the v6. it'll turn ya hair white:rolleyes:

no privately but the bloke seemed very genuine, i've been stiffed!
Try asking the seller if they know whats wrong with it. They may have had a quote off a garage telling them what needs to be done. Sadley this is down to honesty so you may not get an honest answer.

Try looking for the leak yourself. Remove the undertray and see if you can see coolant loss from one of the pipes.

I have, the bloke denies all knowledge of it. I wouldnt mind if i had paid a grand but parting with 3 grand is a diffrent story. yyer im going have a proper look tomorow but the block test shows diffrent. im soo annoyed!!
