Hi all,
Just want to make you aware of this in case you have fallen into this trap.
I have just been on the phone to sureterm, to renew my insurance and to
continue with their breakdown cover.
Credit card details handed over and then i was told - your landrovers a
pick up isn't it? - yes i said - well it's not covered under the
breakdown scheme!!!!!

Apparently they have changed people this year, and they now clasify
truck cabs as comercial vehicles and therefore arn't covered! if i put a
full roof back on i am - how daft is that?

I have asked their Andrew Misseldine to ring me - as his name is on the
bottom of the documents they sent me stating that this cover is
available to "ALL" vehicles, including Classics. i am still waiting for
the call!

So if you have a truck cab and bought their breakdown insurance since
the new year - you are not covered. if you change your roof to a truck
cab - you are not covered.

Be warned

How do they feel about a home-made steam-roller conversion to the rear

I changed to them from Frizzel and saved £40 but it wasn't worth it because
along with the saving came a reduction in cover and limited mileage.
They later sent me a letter saying as my cotreon insurance was due soon
would I like a quote? which caused me to **** myself laughing that's the
worst spelling of Citroen I've ever seen.

where else can i go for a quote for my hybrid, that would include
breakdown cover, any ideas?

cheers

I gather the AA are likely to up the membership fee if they judge that
you're using them instead of vehicle maintenance, OWTTE.

angon, angon, a hardtop is a commercial as well. Mine says "light
commercial" for body type and "historic vehicle" for taxation class.

Been trying to find out if it has to have seatbelts fitted, and by 'eck, the
regulations are difficult to read.

I have decided it can have black number plates, so a nice set of pressed
ally black and silver have duly been orderd from this lot:

http://www.uknumberplates.com/

(no connection, but they seemed OK last time I used 'em, alhtough they did
seem to get confused by me wanting several rear plates in different sizes
and numbers. A few moments thought would have told them that I have several
trailers and more than 1 towing vehicle...)

dunno how they get round the rules, but they'll supply any plates, including
up to date ones. I suspect they're all "show plates" "not for road use", or
something. Some of them obviously are, which doesn't of course stop people.

Interesting point, I am with the RAC in addition to my insurance cover with
inter partner assistance (whoever they are)

When I called the RAC out on Christmas day to extract me from the hedge,
they told me that I may well have to foot the bill myself if it involved
lifting as that isn't covered by the regulations, however in the event they
did not charge. I suppose that was down to the discretion of the garage that
actually handles the call out.

The RAC on the other hand give you a discount if you don't call them out
over the year. In fact I still got a reduction this year even though I did,
maybe I am just a lucky sod.

Wasn't the 109 station wagon supposed to be a bus because it had 12 seats ?
(not counting how many can climb onto the roof)

well, mine arrived this morning, not bad service. Edward II now resplendent
in black-and-silver, and a collection of trailer plates to sort out.

My first RAC renewal went up by £30. When I queried it they told me
my first cost had included an 'introductory discount'. When I told
them I didn't care for their £30 loyality tax they suddenly changed
their quote...

It pays to argue...
