Quick question, do the series 2 sunroofs leak like the series 1?

Thanks in advance :)

It's not as bad as it sounds, and the remedies are fairly easy, if time-consuming.

I had both my roof glasses out yesterday to clean them and re-seat them after the rear seal came out of its channel and lay across one corner of the glass, allowing a fair bit of water in.

The other front had a branch or something drop on it, fracturing the cast aluminium carrier that runs in the guides. I picked up a spare roof for £40 yesterday, but weather too poor to do much today.

Headlining out in your case, take both roofs out, clean the faces between sunroof and car roof, use Sikaflex 221, thick bead of about 8mm in the middle of the sunroof plastic flange all the way round, with help if needed, replace onto car roof and weight it down while the Sikaflex cures.

The set of screws that hold the two halves of the roof together round the lower tray can usefully have rubber washers under their heads as water will leak out otherwise.

Check the drain spouts for damage and sealing.

I did mine originally one bright February day, got both roofs sealed and refitted, did the headlining replacement another day.

Not a bad job to do at all, just seems like a huge job.

You need the headlining out to undo the lower tray screws that hold the two halves together.

If you don't mind registering at another site, the details and pictures of my original job are here:
