Sunroof will not set.

Right, this is driving me to distraction! I have followed the set procedure for setting the sunroof but it will not set, I open it fully, then back, then tilt up then tilt down all in one movement; i.e as soon as it is fully open I then go to close then once fully closed tilt up and then once up tilt down all without the 'Sunroof not set' message dissapearing but it will not set, as soon as I get to the end of the sequence of closing it from tilted open the message screen just goes back to trip one but does not set the sunroof and the next time I use the sunroof or switch the ignition off etc it tells me that the bloody sunroof isn't set! I'm ready to :violent:
Can anyone help, I've used the search function but none of the advice helps. It moves smoothly through all the functions by the way with nothing stopping it

Had a problem with mine shutting today, message said 'blockage', so I sprayed WD40 along the slide rails and all works fine now. Before it almost shut before opening itself again. Might be worth a try! Are you holding the button down when the sunroof is finally closed? until the message comes up 'sunroof set'? Don't let go of the button when you shut it from the tilt postion until message come up.

Open all the way, close all the way and hold the close button pressed for 5 seconds, tilt open and then tilt closed and hold the button for 5 seconds, if done correctly you will get a "Sunroof Set" message on the dash.

I've sprayed WD40 and follwed your advice of holding it for 5 seconds at both closed points (fully open to fully closed and hold 5 seconds and then tilt open, tilt closed and hold 5 seconds and as many different ways of doing it that I can think of) and all to no avail. As soon as it gets to the closed points the 'Sunroof not set' message dissapears and it just displays the trip 1 mileage. I cannot get the sunroof set message. I changed the engine to one from a 325tds, serviced the gearbox, done the ful brake system and upteen other things and it's this one thing that I can't get to work, I'm being driven to distraction!!!

Sunroof will not set.
