Hi all
First post so bear with me......
I have recently taken the plunge and bought my first Range Rover. it is a 1996 4.6 HSE
I knew when I bought it that the sunroof didn't work. I have had a look at it today and there seem to be two problems.
1. The motor was only fixed with 2 of the three fixing screws - the third bracket seems to be missing a spacer. The result of this is that the motor won't properly engage with the cables.
2. On the RHS Guide assembly the 'pop up' leg that looks like it sits in a curve shape groove has broken. The leg is in place but it seems to hinge on a second leg that has broken. I can't quite what it should connect to but it has clearly broken and the guide won't sit in the curved groove - the result of this is that the sunroof won't quite sit flush with the roof line although there don't appear to be any leaks.
Question is - the motor seems to be an easy fix (assuming I can buy another spacer) , but I don't want to start that until the roof itself is capable of tilting / sliding properly. How easy is it to replace the guide - and is a complete replacement of the guide necessary?
