Hi all, your expertise is needed again please :D (Disco1 1998)
I have recently removed my rear sunroof, re attached the roof to the strengthening bars using that amazing stuff 'tiger seal' and re sealed the sunroof back in place, leaks all gone
However when I went to open the roof, there was a bang and then all seemed to work well, except :( then a small piece of metal fell out of the LH guide area
So I investigated further, and found more bits of metal
It appears that there is a bush/spacer around the 'pin' that travels back and forward in the guide to raise and lower the roof, and this bush has broken
Everything works fine, but when the roof is open, if you push up on the glass, there is some play in one side as the pin moves in the guide taking up the slack where the bush should be

Hope this makes sense, and hoping someone can tell me where I can buy a replacement and what to ask for? really dont want to buy a new mechanism just for this bit
Thanks for your ongoing suport, all is easier with your help

Been there :) a shaped slider bush thingy with a hole in the center it fits around the pin that on the arm that raises or pulls down the glass tight onto the seal.

The part is not listed, so I purchased a cheap sunroof from ebay just for these bits and also and bits that slide in the track as they are made of nylon.
I stripped the sun roof completly down and sold all the bits (keeped the drain corners) I didn't want separately on ebay and got all my money back plus a small profit :).

Discool my hero, nice to know someone knows what I am talking about! I am now wondering if I could fabricate something to do the job, difficult without seeing the original, maybe I could get the one out of the other side and see what it looks like? For now all is sealed so I may wait till the spring....
Had to do the same job to the front roof at the weekend, same issue with the sealant having hardened and water ingress around the roof where it was sealed to the roof, all dry now :)

I'm sorry that I only have this one. I know that i will never need it as I don't use my sunroofs but when I did opened one to see if it still worked it went bang, so you never know, also the nylon sliders can split jaming the roof, that's not good.
There's a glut of sunroofs on ebay sometimes do as I did and get a replacement with a motor, strip it and resell the sunroof as bits except for the glass and the metal frame which I dumped, I still have the plastic external surround I may try and sell that oneday:).

Anyway this is what the bit looks like, it's a very hard plastic or nylon.
Alonge side is a 1p to help u scale the part, it's 11mmL 8mmW 6mm hole.

Hope it helps
Pete

Easy I think Nigel, first find a hard nylon block then with your jolly old Dremel sand it to shape. :D... Let us know how you get on.

I now rememeber why I didn't make one, it was a few years ago, the operating arm also snapped, powerful them motors, so that's the reason for me getting a cheap sunroof was for that part as well..
