I was the guy that spoke to you guys at the Ford... I was going to meet you at Bulford camp but was late. We were on the look out for a gold disco, because we thought JP's was gold from his avatar, found out it's just muddy and is actually green..

DOH!

Had a giggle about that, I was looking for you, found you, then left you all without knowing.

LOL sorry stretchie we heard you beeping and thought you wanted us to get out of the way :D

We'll let you know when were next down (Monday I think?) what dogs do you have??

It'd be cool to meet up, Monday being day off and all would be great if you're around

Hi, here's our 'crew'

  • Hollie - Brown and white collie (about 7 and we think crossed with a lurcher, she is a rescue dog)
  • Stig - Black and white collie (3 years old, the biggest creep on the planet and chief cuddler)
  • Saffie - Black Lab (mixed with Rottweiller, the mum was the rotty, we know because we met her and the dad we are guessing was a [BRAVE] black lab, the mum was found tied to a bin by the roadside heavily preggers)
  • and finally THE JACK... - Squirrel. Squirrel by name, little sh*t by nature and I would not have him any way

So funny, we did go on o have a great day and got plenty of mud and water for us to tackle on our own and found a grea spot to have a break with the dogs by a pond for them to swim in!

Look forward to Monday if it happens and hope to see you then!

is it open for that sort of thing all year?

Hi Beemer, I'm Carternm31's better half.

Bulford is a pretty good starting point for us. As far as i know, its pretty much open after 4pm and all day Sunday. Just need to watch out for for the Flags.

They generally take the flags down at 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays, but there is the odd time where they will do overnight exercises, where the red flags will be up overnight.

We have never seen the flags up on a Sunday though :)

Cool thankyou for that, might have to plan a day up there, maybe get a few of us up there as looks like a good crack....

Well it's straight up the A303 from you mate

Have a butchers at google maps find Bulford Camp and zoom out to see where it is. It's about 90 miles from Exeter centre.

45 miles from us (different direction though)

carternm31 dont wanna rain on year parade as it looks like you had fun,i know the areas very well that are in your pics and me and a couple of mates venture out there alot.the hole that you were goin in and out of used to be our 1st port of call untill a land warden caught up with us,and we were told that it wasnt on the byway and that we were open to prosecution under section summit of the road traffic act and that our vehicles could be seized..just be carefull and keep yr eyes peeled if you do venture off the byway(although u shouldnt:rolleyes:)

The hole with the tracks going over?

Yeah we were advised it is not part of the by-way so just took a few pics and left quickly. There's another one at Market Lavington, a bit steeper, but also out of bounds :(

I didn't know about the seizing though, on their law signs in everleigh it says they have to caution at least 3 times before cars can be seized (unless you are messing about when they are training!)

Apart from that hole we generally don't stray off the by-ways :)

beemer... Bulford camp is a army training ground, you can go in as long as the red flags on the gates are down.
if the flags are up.. you can't go in or you risk being shot at.
buy an OS map for the area so you know where the byways are...or even to show to a land warden in case you are lost and trying to get back to a byway

stretchie... please, please, stop mentioning the gold disco stuff, everytime I read it I p!ss myself laughing... hahaha

I do see the point about not being part of a byway, but as there is tracks there, people have been in and out recently, we usually dont spend much time on these places anyway, I would say max about 20min or so..
