As above, 300 tdi 1997, I got me sump plug stuck in the sump, i tried a ratchet, a spanner, two spanners, and even me 2ft bar, but i cant get the fooker out, even with the bar, it just drags me 16stone across the driveway...

I tried it after a good run to warm up and still the same,

Any ideas, can i try more heat or is that a no no??

It'll either crack or will tear the lug out of the sump, at a certain torque, something will give, question is what will give first?

Try doing it up slightly then undoing again, try and old spanner on it and a gentle whack with a shifter.

If it tears out, it will get messy fast.

If its not rounded off & you have a trolly-jack, use the jack to push up on the spanner (Making sure its going the right way!)....

Has worked for me in the past...

Dont use long bars and brute force pushing and pulling something will give , and you'll be in a whole world of mess... Spanner and hammer the short sharpe force should crack it mate....:D

The plugs are sometimes made of different material to the sumps - so you can get some dissimilar metal corrosion if they have been in place for some time - even when they are sitting in oil! This is perhaps obvious but once its out (and good luck with that) be sure to either replace it or soak it in WD40 for a good while and then clean it and the sump threads fully before refit. I had to do that with my Axle sump plugs when I first changed the oil after buying the car as they were corroded for about 1/3rd of the thread.
