There are some good lanes in Suffolk, although last time, I left my landy at home and took the kids out in our Delica on road tyres - it was mostly very flat and sandy so 2wd was fine.

We found loadsa chestnuts :)

and ended up at a beach near Sizewell, and we had fun exploring WW2 bunkers / look out thingys / pill boxes

I did however manage to roll my 90 on a lane in Suffolk a few years ago

Best bet is to join a local club.

Hi Craig,

There are quite a few lanes around Thetford and Kings Forest.I'm a member of GLASS but those guys don't seem to out and about that much. I lane about every 4 - 6 weeks (depending on family commitments) - there's also a bunch of local lads that can be found on Facebook - called MUdHunters 4x4 - they're often out in Thetford, sometimes at night!

cheers

Darren

Yeah we've all seen the work of the MUDhunters!!!

Bunch of mud flingers who trash lanes.

Hi Ginge,

One of the reasons I didn't join them was that they didn't seem to be an official club.

I've also seen some of the comments on the GLASS forum about some of the official clubs in East Anglia going out and making a mess of lanes, so I'm not surprised an un-official club have been going out and making a mess as well.

It seems that the MudHunters are content on trying to get stuck when the Greenlane / TreadLightly code says that this is the last thing you should be doing.......

Have you come across them yourself?

Hi Darren,

MUDhunters are not the only ones, there are loads of people who do like to go and fling mud and get stuck, its human nature i suppose to push boundaries.

I like to go and get upto my doors in mud too, but i do it at a designated site and not on public roads. :( These people are either un educated or they don't care.

Ive never come across them personally, if i did though id report them the same as i would report anyone who i see abusing lanes. Like you say the TL and GLASs code of conduct id there to respect lanes and al users, these fools give us all a bad name.

Kev,

Looking at some of their pictures in Facebook it looks they MAY have been off-piste, but can't be sure....

I'm just very nervous of getting involved with "non-offical" clubs as there's no accountability there.....they also seem to have a habit of getting stuck.....

I don't want to jump to any assumptions but want to play safe for now....

cheers

Hi all, I'm in Suffolk and always up for a bit of laning. Myself and two buddies went on Monday, did all the ones round Rendlesham forest. Had a cracking day! Give me a shout if anyone wants some company, I'd love to tag along. :)

Hi Darren,
Yeah quite a few good lanes, all fairly sandy/hard based but a few muddy bits as well, I've been on them after a dry spell and then its all sandy, ( my avatar is on one of them), but go afer a good spot of rain and its a lot more fun!

Hi Darren

Yeah I might be up for that depending when i'm working! I also need to get some AT tyres as I'm still on road based ones! Any other freelanders going?

Cheers
Ben
