Stupid question sorry guys

Can anyone tell me what I would be charged if I went over the severn bridge in my landy. I have been told that because it has back windows it is classed as a car and if they dont have back windows they are classed as a van. Also the same question in regards to refuge sites. Do I need a permit or is it classed as a car??

Can't help with the bridge but i've never had any bother at refuge sites in my 110 csw,

For going over the severn bridge yer landy is classed as a car even if it has no rear windows. I never got charged commercila rates for going over in my old defender 110 with van body.

For going to the tip it depends on the staff on duty. I'd taken my previous 110 van to the tip several times with no problems. I have also taken my current 110 to the tip countless times but even though it is a csw I have been challenged in it and therefore I obtained a permit. Since obtaining my permit I've not been asked for it or had it stamped/punched. Getting a permit is great fun though. I had to get written permission from the ballast to obtain a permit because she is the registered keeper. Even though the V5 clearly states that the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner of the vehicle the council would not except that. She wrote that yes she does give permission for me to obtain a permit for and drive my own vehicle.

Having crossed the bridge meany a time, on the way to Brecon, in a wolf FFR or GS we only have been charged as a car. At the tip in the 110 I had never had a problem or been challenged.

My local tip is a bit odd - my swb station wagon is fine but a swb truck cab is classed as a pickup and needs a permit. Mad.

Well, working at one of these mad waste sites, I can explain the crazy system if any ones interested. . . Basically it all comes down to weather your motor has a "cargo" space ie: a load carrying area beyond that of a boot, as well as having/not having seats in the back. A 110 truck cab with pick-up back is made to move a large cargo, so needs permits. A swb station wagon is not for shifting 3/4 ton of sh*t (regardless of whether you decide to use it for such!) so does not need permits. It does get very complicated, and makes our life hell, and there are always a few wild cards in the mix, we have one guy with a massive VW camper who takes the p*ss by bringing tons in and we cant touch him (human rights!), and another guy with his sweet mini pick-up conversion, who needs permits! Its a stupid system, brought to you by a stupid government, but please please, remember the staff are getting paid sweet FA to enforce this cr*p, so don't take it out on them! Ok, rant over, plase forgive if this is unreadable, i'm learning to type on a Devorak keyboard (God help me!)

My fender or Disco 3 won't fit under the barrier even on access height so for me it's all down to whether the person on duty is willing to let me drive through the wrong way.

Well I have just been to the tip and was not asked for a permit so they were obviously happy that it aint a van!!
