Ok, This is probably a daft question, but I just want to make sure I've got it right before I get round to doing anything.

The Rave CD states that the car should be jacked up using a trolley jack under the differential casings and then supported by axle stands under the axles.

Is this really the best way to do it? (ie are the diff casings strong enough and the axles strong enough for axle stands?)

If I were to replace the air springs, for example, presumably I wouldn't want to have the axles on stands so presumably the chassis rails themselves would be ok to use?

Told you it was a stupid question, but I don't want to get underneath it unless I'm sure it's safe!!

Yeah, I jacked it and put the axle stand at the chassis where the radius arm mounts and then used the jack under the axle.
If you don't have a way of resetting the EAS it can be dodgy since you can bring about a 'height sensor out of range' fault (I never did incur a fault but I know it has happened to others).

was told to open boot and leave open and have the hazzards on this will stop the system from lowering its how i did it no concerns ( BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING SAFTY GLASS WHEN DISCONECTING THE AIR FEED PIPE FROM THE TOP OF THE AIR BAG THERS A LOT OF PRESURE IN THERE)

would it be a good idea to raise suspension to max height, support it on jaks and then open boot? now take the air sus pipe off, remove wheel and drag bag out?

thats basically how i intend doing my front ones, although i have software and a ramp at my disposal!

Cheers for the suggestions.

I have the software and the lead so I can safely depressurise the system and hopefully resolve any issues with it that might come up.

I was just nervous about supporting the car - it's a bit heavier than the ones I used to tinker with in the good old days!

Guy

dont worry about the weight! if you put one of the wheels under the car it will save your life in the unlikely event of an accident! unless of course your stupid enough to use the wheel as a pillow!
