hi
my stearing lock is stuck on, ive given it seveal wiggles and a few good wacks, it still wont budge, due at work soon, and need to get it round a few corners, is their a quick solution to my problem.
many thanks.

rock the steering wheel from left to right while you wiggle the key so it releases pressure on the locking pin.

you are not meant to oil the lock but if you dont have any other choice spray some WD40 into it and then slide the key in and out several times applying pressure downwards and then upwards.(without trying to turn the key). This pushes the tumblers (the sticky out bits inside the lock) in when you put the key in and then when you pull the key out they ping back out. If 1 tumbler is stuck, your lock wont work. by applying pressure top and bottom it gives you a better chance of hitting the correct one. Do you have a spare key? Try using it if you do. It may be the key you normally use is starting to wear down.

I is a boy.;) :p

It may just be a one off but if it does it again get the lock changed. That technique will wear the key and tumblers down fairly quickly. If the lock will not turn it is very difficult to remove it from the barrel without causing it damage. It is cheaper to change just the barrel than it is the whole mechanism. You also get 2 keys with a new barrel.
