send a good pic of your winch and no dout a winch freak(sorry boffin) will set you straight

folk love winchs on here
:beer2:

the damage may already be done, some winches dont like putting motor in reverse especially under load

but if the controller was marked with in/out and he just put it on backwards then the motor will still have been going the right way just the cable will have spooled over not under, probably fouling the fairlead on the way in.

well lets hope so eh;)

yeah ive still been using the winch so that i use the "in" button for winding the winch in and visa versa... ive flipped it around and hooked it on some railings at work and it pulled the landy far easier than before so fingers crossed im good to go! thanks people :)

had some great fun yesturday till i got well and truley stuck in very thick mud! ive got a champion 12000 winch on the front of my 300 90 and it wouldnt do anything! theres me thinking that a 12000 winch should be able to pull me out of anything am i wrong is it possible that there is a fault with the winch as bought secondhand and it looks quite old?
pic to follow ;)

Hi Buxtonous,

To be honest, the LR doesn't look that stuck, and I am surprised a 12k lbs winch couldn't pull you out, even at a strait line pull.
Sure, the mud sucks you on, but, it's not that bad, really.

I would tend to think the winch isn't working properly, perhaps for a combination of reasons.

A 12000 lbs winch, in proper working order, proper leads, good healthy battery, would drag that LR out no effort.

vette

you defo should of recovered that backwards! it would have been much much easier.

P.s Glad you got out and the winch is now fitted the correct way round!

I think adding a snatch block to your recovery kit would be a wise move!

Just found this i got stuck in exactly the same spot a few weeks ago lol
